Kwazulu-Natal
Excellent Beaches, Safari Parks and Green Hills
Kwazulu-Natal is the second-most populated province in South Africa. This region is popular for its excellent beaches, safari parks, green hills and vast sugar cane and banana plantations. It also has a rich history and its battlefields are a popular tourist attraction, like the vibrant cultural program at Shakaland which provides an informative introduction to the culture of the province’s Zulu people. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal’s most important Big Five destination, served as the royal hunting ground of King Shaka Zulu, but has been declared a protected area in 1895.
The Golden Mile is a boardwalk alongside a beautiful stretch of beaches, and draws many travellers to Durban. Durban, together with neighbouring Pinetown, is the province’s economic and industrial centre. It has the majority of KwaZulu-Natal’s factories, thus it’s one of South Africa’s most important industrial regions.
