The Limpopo
An All-year-round Holiday Destination
Once named the Northern Transvaal, Limpopo is South Africa’s northernmost province bordering Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The province was later named after the Limpopo River that runs through it. Limpopo takes up 10.2% of South Africa’s land area and is known for its bushveld, various mountain ranges and incredible wildlife.
Activities and attractions are focused on the outdoors, like water sports on the Limpopo River, seasonal hunting and great hiking and climbing opportunities. Ancient civilisations can be rediscovered at the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site. As part of the Mapungubwe National Park, there are San rock paintings, fossilised dinosaur footprints amongst other fascinating historical remains.
Limpopo is an all-year-round holiday destination due to its warm climate.
